Sloppy Joe Casserole Recipe

Transform classic sloppy joes into a hearty, crowd-pleasing sloppy joe casserole! Layers of saucy beef, gooey cheese, and a golden biscuit topping make this an easy, comforting dinner.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup onion diced
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper diced
  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika optional
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 can 16.3 oz refrigerated biscuit dough

Method
 

  1. Preheat Oven:
  2. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Cook the Beef Mixture:
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef, onion, and green bell pepper, cooking until the beef is browned and the vegetables are softened. Drain excess grease if necessary.
  5. Prepare the Sloppy Joe Sauce:
  6. Stir in ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  7. Assemble the Casserole:
  8. Transfer the beef mixture into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the beef mixture.
  9. Add Biscuit Topping:
  10. Separate the biscuit dough and place the biscuits on top of the cheese, evenly spaced.
  11. Bake:
  12. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and cooked through.
  13. Cool and Serve:
  14. Allow the casserole to cool for 5 minutes before serving.
