Activate the Yeast:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Stir gently and let sit for 5–10 minutes until the mixture is foamy.
Mix the Dough:
Add the melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined. Gradually add the flour, 1 cup at a time, until a soft dough forms.
Knead the Dough:
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer with a dough hook for 5–6 minutes.
First Rise:
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
Shape the Rolls:
Punch down the dough and divide it into 12–16 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and place them in a greased baking dish or sheet pan.
Second Rise:
Cover the rolls with a kitchen towel and let them rise for another 30–40 minutes, or until puffy.
Bake the Rolls:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Bake the rolls for 15–18 minutes, or until golden brown on top.
Brush with Butter:
Remove the rolls from the oven and brush with melted butter while still warm.
