Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef or turkey (Halal-certified) Use either ground beef or turkey for a lighter option.
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 6 pieces flour tortillas Use medium-sized tortillas.
  • to taste cooking oil spray For a golden finish.
Optional Toppings
  • salsa For serving.
  • guacamole For serving.
  • sour cream For serving.
  • diced tomatoes For serving.
  • jalapeños For serving.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks (about 8-10 minutes). Drain any excess fat.
  2. Stir in the taco seasoning with a splash of water. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the spices meld into the meat. Remove from heat and let it cool for a moment.
  3. Lay out your flour tortillas on a flat surface. Sprinkle a generous amount of shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese down the center of each tortilla.
  4. Spoon some of the seasoned meat on top of the cheese.
  5. Carefully roll each tortilla tightly, just like a burrito.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the rolled-up sticks seam-side down on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Lightly spray them with cooking oil to achieve that golden, crispy finish.
  2. Bake for about 15-20 minutes until they’re golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Allow them to cool for a couple of minutes, then slice them into pieces. Serve with your favorite toppings.

Notes

For substitutions, ground chicken or plant-based meat can be used for Halal-friendly alternatives. Keep an eye on baking to prevent overcooking.
