Equipment
- Bread knife
- Mixing bowl
- Baking sheet
- Aluminum foil
Ingredients
- 1 large baguette or loaf of Italian bread
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
- 3 cloves garlic minced
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley chopped (optional)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Preheat the oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- Prepare the garlic butter:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley (if using), salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Slice the bread:
- Using a bread knife, slice the baguette or loaf in half lengthwise. Place the halves cut side up on the prepared baking sheet.
- Spread the garlic butter:
- Evenly spread the garlic butter mixture over the cut sides of the bread. Be generous to ensure full flavor.
- Add the cheese:
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over both halves of the bread. Then top with the grated Parmesan cheese for an extra cheesy kick.
- Bake the bread:
- Place the bread in the oven and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. For a golden, crispy finish, turn on the broiler for 1–2 minutes at the end, watching closely to avoid burning.
- Slice and serve:
- Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool for a minute. Slice into pieces and serve warm.
