Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan, lining it with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until combined.
  • Add the eggs, vanilla extract, lemon zest, and lemon juice to the butter mixture and mix until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined to keep the brownies fudgy.
  • Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  • Once baked, let the brownies cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • Dust with powdered sugar before slicing into squares, if desired.
