Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb bok choy, washed and cut into halves or quarters
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or any cooking oil of your choice)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce (ensure it’s halal-certified)
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • to taste Salt and pepper
  • optional Sesame seeds, for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. Wash the bok choy thoroughly under running water to remove any grit. Cut the bok choy into halves or quarters, depending on your preference.
  2. In a large skillet or wok, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  3. Once the oil is hot, add the minced garlic and ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, stirring constantly to avoid burning.
  4. Add the prepared bok choy to the skillet. Stir-fry for approximately 3-5 minutes or until the leaves are wilted and the stems are crisp-tender.
  5. Pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil, stir to coat evenly, and adjust the seasoning with salt and pepper according to your taste.
  6. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, then remove from heat.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds, if desired, and serve hot as a delightful side or main dish.

Notes

Substitution options include Chinese cabbage, kale, or spinach. Prep all ingredients before cooking to ensure freshness. Avoid overcooking to maintain vibrant color and crispness.
