White Fish Recipe

Delight in this simple and flavorful white fish recipe! Perfectly seasoned and pan-seared or baked, it’s a quick, healthy, and versatile dish for any occasion.

Equipment

  • Non-stick skillet (if pan-searing)
  • Baking sheet lined with parchment paper (if baking)
  • Spatula
  • Mixing bowl

Ingredients
  

  • 4 fillets of white fish e.g., cod, haddock, tilapia, or halibut
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or melted butter
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp dried thyme or oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 lemon sliced (for serving)
  • Optional garnish: fresh parsley dill, or chives

Instructions
 

  • Option 1: Pan-Seared White Fish
  • Prepare the fish:
  • Pat the fish fillets dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix the garlic powder, paprika, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Rub this seasoning mixture onto both sides of the fish.
  • Heat the skillet:
  • Heat olive oil or butter in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  • Cook the fish:
  • Place the fish fillets in the skillet and cook for 3–4 minutes on each side, or until the fish is golden brown and flakes easily with a fork.
  • Serve:
  • Remove from the skillet and serve with lemon slices and your choice of garnish.
  • Option 2: Baked White Fish
  • Preheat the oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Season the fish:
  • Place the fish fillets on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush them with olive oil or melted butter and sprinkle the seasoning mixture evenly on top.
  • Bake:
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the fish is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.
  • Serve:
  • Transfer to a plate and serve with lemon slices and garnish.
