Waffle Recipe

Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, this classic waffle recipe is perfect for breakfast or brunch. Simple ingredients, endless topping possibilities!

Equipment

  • Waffle iron
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups milk whole or 2%
  • 1/3 cup melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  • Preheat the waffle iron:
  • Turn on your waffle iron and allow it to preheat while you prepare the batter.
  • Mix the dry ingredients:
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  • Combine the wet ingredients:
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until well blended.
  • Make the batter:
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the bowl of dry ingredients. Stir gently with a whisk or spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few lumps are okay.
  • Cook the waffles:
  • Lightly grease the waffle iron with non-stick spray or a small amount of butter. Pour the batter into the center of the waffle iron, spreading it slightly (amount depends on your waffle iron's size). Close the lid and cook according to the waffle iron’s instructions, usually 3–5 minutes, or until golden brown.
  • Serve immediately:
  • Remove the waffle from the iron and repeat with the remaining batter. Serve hot with your favorite toppings.
  • Topping Ideas
  • Sweet options: Maple syrup, fresh berries, whipped cream, chocolate chips, or powdered sugar.
  • Savory options: Fried eggs, crispy bacon, smoked salmon, or avocado slices.
