Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch sheet pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then blend in the vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Begin and end with the flour mixture, mixing just until combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared sheet pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Cooling & Serving
  1. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Frost or serve as desired!

Notes

For best results, make sure your butter, eggs, and milk are at room temperature before mixing. Customize your cake with toppings like buttercream frosting or fresh fruit. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
