Preparation
- Toast the three slices of whole grain bread until golden brown.
- While the bread is toasting, slice the turkey, avocado, and tomato, and wash and dry the lettuce leaves.
Assembly
- Spread a generous layer of mayonnaise on one side of each slice of toasted bread.
- On the first slice of bread, layer the lettuce and tomato slices, and sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- Add a layer of turkey on top of the tomato, followed by two slices of crispy chicken bacon if using.
- Layer the avocado slices on top of the turkey and bacon, spreading evenly.
- Place the second slice of bread (mayonnaise side down) on top and repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients.
- Finish with the third slice of bread on top.
- Secure the sandwich with toothpicks, slice it in half, and serve.
Notes
For a meatless option, substitute turkey with grilled vegetables or hummus. To keep avocado fresh, add it just before serving. Avoid overloading the sandwich for better handling.
