Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish or roasting pan
  • Whisk
  • Mixing bowls
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Oven mitts

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 8 pork sausages or your favorite variety

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
  • Set your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place a 9x13-inch baking dish with the oil inside to heat in the oven while you prepare the batter.
  • Prepare the Batter:
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour and salt.
  • Gradually add milk and eggs, whisking until the batter is smooth and lump-free. Let the batter rest for 15–20 minutes.
  • Cook the Sausages:
  • In a hot skillet, lightly brown the sausages over medium heat for about 5 minutes, turning occasionally. This step ensures the sausages are cooked through and flavorful.
  • Combine in the Baking Dish:
  • Carefully remove the hot dish from the oven. Arrange the sausages evenly in the dish, then pour the batter over them.
  • Bake:
  • Return the dish to the oven and bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the batter is puffed and golden brown. Avoid opening the oven door to prevent the batter from collapsing.
  • Serve:
