Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and line your round cake pans with parchment paper to ensure easy release.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy—this will take about 4-5 minutes.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter mixture while alternating with the milk, mixing until just combined.
Baking
- Pour a thin layer of batter into the prepared pans, spreading evenly. Bake for about 8-10 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Repeat this process until all the batter is baked.
Assembly
- Once cooled, start stacking your layers with generous amounts of ganache or whipped cream between each one.
- Finish by frosting the top layer and decorating as desired.
- Allow the cake to chill for an hour before serving.
Notes
For best results, bake each layer thinly for a traditional cake texture. Chill the layers in the fridge if stacking becomes difficult.
