Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine pumpkin puree, sugar, milk, eggs, and pumpkin pie spice. Whisk until well blended.
- Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and pour the pumpkin mixture into it.
- Evenly sprinkle the box of yellow cake mix over the pumpkin mixture. Do not stir.
- Drizzle the melted butter over the cake mix and optionally sprinkle with chopped nuts.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm or at room temperature.
Notes
For best results, use fresh pumpkin for a more vibrant flavor. Customize toppings to taste and avoid overmixing once the cake mix is added.
