Ingredients

Dry Ingredients
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (plus a little extra for dusting)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened, plus extra for brushing)
  • 1.5 cups warm water (about 110°F or 43°C)
  • 1 large egg (room temperature)

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine 4 cups of all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, instant yeast, and salt. Stir well to combine.
  2. In another bowl, whisk the warm water and egg together. Add the softened butter into the warm water mixture, letting it melt slightly.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Mix together until a sticky dough forms.
Kneading and Rising
  1. Dust your counter with flour and transfer the dough. Knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
  2. Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
Shaping and Second Rise
  1. Once risen, punch down the dough gently and divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape them into balls and place them in a greased 9x13 baking dish.
  2. Cover the shaped rolls for another 30 minutes, allowing them to rise once more.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Once preheated, bake the rolls for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Brush the tops with melted butter as they come out for that mouthwatering finish.
  3. Let your rolls cool slightly before serving.

Notes

To keep your rolls fresh, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer shelf life, freeze them in a labeled bag for up to 3 months. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
