Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Wooden spoon

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 can 10.5 oz condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika optional
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 package 32 oz frozen tater tots
  • Chopped parsley for garnish optional

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking for 3-5 minutes until the onion is soft and fragrant. Drain any excess grease.
  • In a medium mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and paprika. Mix well until smooth.
  • Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the cooked ground beef. Stir until the beef is evenly coated.
  • Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef layer. Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
  • Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese over the top of the tater tots. Bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove the casserole from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve hot.
