Preparation

  • Begin by dicing your pineapple into small, bite-sized pieces.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the diced pineapple, sugar, white vinegar, soy sauce, and chili flakes. Stir everything together well.

Cooking

  • Place the saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Once it starts to boil, mix your cornstarch with the water in a separate bowl until smooth. Add this mixture to the saucepan and stir constantly until the sauce thickens, which usually takes about 1-2 minutes.
  • Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool down in the pot.

Storage

  • Once cooled, transfer the sauce into an airtight container or jar and enjoy!
