Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 4 cups apples, peeled and sliced Use tart apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp.
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 pieces eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce Consider making your own caramel sauce at home.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Peel, core, and slice your apples thin enough to cook through but thick enough to hold their shape.
Mixing
  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir well to incorporate all the dry ingredients.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until creamy.
  3. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
  4. Gently fold in the sliced apples until they are evenly distributed in the batter.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it into an even layer.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Finishing Touches
  1. Once the cake has cooled slightly, drizzle the caramel sauce over the top before serving.
  2. Cut into squares and serve warm, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

To store, keep the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or refrigerate for up to a week. For freezing, wrap pieces in plastic wrap and store in a freezer-safe container for up to three months.
