  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan to prevent sticking.
  • Peel and slice the apples, sprinkle them with a little cinnamon, and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs before adding the melted butter and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  • Gradually fold the wet ingredients into the dry mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  • Gently fold in the sliced apples until evenly coated with the batter.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Finishing Touch

  • Let the cake cool for a few minutes before transferring it to a cooling rack.
  • Once cool, drizzle generously with caramel sauce.

Notes

For best results, don’t overmix the batter, and consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or a splash of lemon juice for enhanced flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days, or refrigerate for a week.
