  • 2 pieces fresh tuna steaks (around 6 ounces each) Use high-quality, fresh tuna steaks.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil For drizzling on the steaks.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Enhances flavor.
  • To taste salt Adjust according to preference.
  • To taste black pepper Adjust according to preference.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Freshly squeezed is best.

Preparation
  1. Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels to help achieve a perfect sear.
  2. Drizzle both sides of the tuna steaks with olive oil and sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Preheat your skillet on medium-high heat until hot.
Cooking
  1. Sear the tuna steaks in the hot skillet for about 1.5-2 minutes on one side.
  2. Flip the steaks and cook on the other side for another minute or so, keeping the center pink and juicy.
  3. Remove from heat and squeeze fresh lemon juice over the steaks, garnishing with freshly chopped herbs if desired.
  4. Slice, plate, and serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

Pair with steamed asparagus or a refreshing arugula salad. Avoid overcooking the tuna for the best flavor.
