Ingredients

Dough and Toppings
  • 1 pound pizza dough store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup cooked Halal sliced meats like chicken, turkey pepperoni, or turkey salami
  • 2 cups shredded cheese mozzarella or provolone
  • 1 cup vegetables such as bell peppers or onions, diced
  • ¾ cup pizza sauce store-bought or homemade
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 each egg for egg wash, optional

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Roll out the pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface into a rectangular shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over the dough, leaving about an inch border all around.
  4. Add the cooked Halal meats, followed by the shredded cheese, diced vegetables, and sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
  5. Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough into a log, ensuring that the fillings remain intact.
  6. Pinch the ends to seal tightly.
  7. If desired, whisk the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the top of the Stromboli for a beautiful golden finish.
  8. Transfer the Stromboli to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing.
  11. Serve warm alongside extra pizza sauce for dipping.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, wrapped tightly in plastic wrap or in an airtight container. For longer storage, freeze sliced Stromboli for up to 2 months and reheat at 350°F (175°C).
