Ingredients

Dough and Egg Wash
  • 1 package pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 large egg (for egg wash)
Fillings
  • 1 cup sliced deli meats (turkey, chicken, salami, or pepperoni) Ensure they're Halal.
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or provolone)
  • ½ cup sautéed vegetables (bell peppers, onions, mushrooms)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
Serving
  • to taste Marinara sauce For serving

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out your pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangular shape, about ¼ inch thick.
  3. Layer the sliced deli meats evenly across the dough, leaving a small border. Sprinkle the cheese over the meats, and add the sautéed vegetables on top. Optionally, add Italian seasoning.
  4. Starting from one end, roll the dough tightly into a log shape and pinch the seams and ends to seal the Stromboli.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk the egg and brush it over the top of the rolled dough.
  6. Make a few small slits on top of the dough to allow steam to escape. Place the rolled Stromboli onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Baking
  1. Bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
Serving
  1. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with warm marinara sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

Substitutions: You can swap the meats for grilled chicken or use veggies for a meat-free option. Timing is key to ensure the dough is rolled tight enough. Avoid overfilling the Stromboli.
