Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated Use sharp cheddar for best flavor.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder Adjust to taste.
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2-4 tablespoons cold water Add gradually until dough forms.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and garlic powder.
  3. Add the grated sharp cheddar cheese and softened butter to the dry mixture. Using a fork or your fingers, mix until well-combined and crumbly.
  4. Gradually add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing until a dough forms.
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface. Roll it out to about ¼-inch thickness.
  6. Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut the dough into squares or any shape you like.
  7. Place the cut crackers on a parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring there’s enough space between each one for expansion.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.
  2. Allow the crackers to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  3. Serve them warm or store them for later.

Notes

Experiment with different cheese varieties like Monterey Jack or Parmesan for added richness. Store crackers in an airtight container to keep them fresh.
