Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 cup active sourdough starter Make sure it’s bubbly and ready to use.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Whole wheat can be used for a healthier option.
  • 1/4 cup olive oil Adds flavor and helps with crispiness.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Adjust to your preference.
  • 1 tablespoon herbs or spices Use your favorite like rosemary, sesame seeds, or garlic powder.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the active sourdough starter, flour, olive oil, salt, and any herbs or spices you prefer. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Sprinkle a bit of flour on your surface and knead your dough lightly for a minute until it’s smooth.
  4. Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll it out to about 1/8 inch thick.
  5. Remove the top sheet of parchment and cut the dough into squares or rectangles using a pizza cutter or knife. Prick each cracker with a fork to prevent puffing.
  6. Transfer your parchment with the dough directly onto the baking sheet. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the crackers are golden and crispy, flipping halfway through.
  7. Allow the crackers to cool on a wire rack completely before serving.

Notes

These crackers are versatile and can be enjoyed with dips like hummus or cheese spreads. Store in an airtight container to maintain crispness.
