  • 1 medium Onion, diced
  • 1 medium Green bell pepper, diced
Sauces
  • 1 can (15 oz) Tomato sauce
  • ½ cup Ketchup
  • ¼ cup Barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

  • 2 cups Cheddar cheese, shredded For a richer flavor, use sharp cheddar.
  • 6 slices Texas toast or hamburger buns, cut into cubes Use stale bread for better texture.

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in the diced onion and green bell pepper. Sauté for about 5 minutes until softened.
  4. Add the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper, blending everything well. Let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. In a large bowl, combine the beef mixture with the cubed bread, gently folding to coat the bread pieces evenly.
  6. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top of the casserole.
Baking
  1. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  2. Once baked, let it cool for a few minutes, then scoop out and serve warm.

Notes

You can customize your casserole with extra ingredients like shredded carrots, corn, or diced jalapeños. Allow cooling time before serving for easier slicing. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
