Preparation
- Start by slicing the onions and beef if you haven’t done so already. Mince the garlic and set aside.
Cooking
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and sauté for about 10-12 minutes until they become caramelized and golden brown. Stir occasionally to avoid burning.
- Push the onions to the side of the skillet and add the beef strips. Cook for 5-7 minutes, searing them until browned on all sides.
- Stir in the minced garlic, dried thyme, salt, and black pepper. Allow to cook for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Pour in the beef broth and soy sauce, then bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for about 15 minutes so the flavors meld together.
- While the beef and onion mixture simmers, cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- Once the beef mixture is done simmering, stir in the cooked noodles, ensuring they soak up the delicious sauce.
- Sprinkle cheese on top of the beef and noodles. Cover and let everything cook for an additional 5 minutes, allowing the cheese to melt beautifully.
- Garnish with freshly chopped parsley and serve hot.
Notes
To enhance flavor, don't rush the onions. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 2 months.
