Preparation
- Start by washing the asparagus under cold water. Trim off the woody ends using a knife.
- Pat the tuna steaks dry with a paper towel. Drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, then sprinkle with salt and pepper.
Cooking
- In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
- Place the seasoned tuna steaks in the skillet and sear for about 2-3 minutes on each side depending on your desired doneness.
- While the tuna is cooking, in a separate pot, add water and bring to a boil. Add the asparagus and blanch for about 2-4 minutes until vibrant and tender. Drain and set aside.
- Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the cooked tuna and asparagus. Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds for a delightful crunch.
Serving
- Plate your savory tuna steak alongside the asparagus. Enjoy this beautifully presented dish with family or friends!
Notes
If fresh tuna isn’t available, canned or frozen tuna steaks can be used. Be cautious not to overcrowd the pan when cooking tuna.
