  • 1.5 lbs beef sirloin, sliced into strips Make sure to select Halal-certified beef.
  • 1 piece bell pepper (any color), sliced
  • 1 piece onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 0.25 cup soy sauce Make sure to use Halal-certified soy sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation
  1. Start by slicing your beef sirloin into thin strips. Next, slice your bell pepper and onion, and mince your garlic.
Cooking
  1. In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the vegetable oil. Once hot, sear the beef strips for about 2-3 minutes until browned.
  2. Transfer the browned beef to the slow cooker. Add the sliced bell pepper, onion, and minced garlic.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the beef broth, soy sauce, and cornstarch, whisking until smooth. Pour this mixture over the beef and vegetables in the slow cooker.
  4. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4 hours until the beef is tender.
  5. Once cooked, serve your Savory Slow Cooker Pepper Steak over steamed rice or with your favorite sides.

Notes

For added nutrition, consider adding other vegetables like carrots or snow peas. If you're short on time, you can skip searing the beef, but it adds extra flavor. Adjust soy sauce to taste.
