Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 loaf 1 loaf of bread (a round sourdough or pull-apart bread)
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Use unsalted butter for better control of saltiness.
  • 4 cloves 4 cloves of garlic, minced Fresh garlic gives the best flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon 1 teaspoon dried parsley (or 1 tablespoon of fresh parsley) Dried or fresh parsley can be used.
  • 1/2 teaspoon 1/2 teaspoon salt Adjust salt based on taste.
  • 1/4 teaspoon 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional, such as mozzarella or cheddar) Adds extra creaminess and flavor.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Take your loaf of bread and make deep cuts both vertically and horizontally to create bite-sized pieces, ensuring the base remains intact.
Mixing
  1. In a small bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, dried parsley, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well mixed.
Assembling
  1. Use a pastry brush or spoon to generously drizzle the garlic butter mixture over the cuts in the bread, allowing it to seep in.
  2. If using shredded cheese, sprinkle it generously in and around the cuts of the bread.
Baking
  1. Wrap the bread tightly in aluminum foil and place it on a baking sheet. Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes.
  2. After 15 minutes, unwrap the foil and broil for an additional 5 minutes until the tops are golden and crispy.
Serving
  1. Remove from the oven and let cool for a minute before serving. Enjoy warm with friends and family!

Notes

For variations, consider using fresh herbs like rosemary or thyme, or try different cheese types like feta or goat cheese. Store leftovers tightly wrapped for up to 3 days in the fridge.
