Savory Fried Cabbage with Sausage – A Comforting One-Pan Meal

Equipment

Ingredients
  

  • 1 medium head of green cabbage chopped
  • 1 pound smoked sausage or kielbasa sliced
  • 1 medium onion diced
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • Heat the olive oil or butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes. Remove and set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add the diced onion and cook for 3 minutes until softened. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute.
  • Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until tender and slightly caramelized.
  • Sprinkle the smoked paprika, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper over the cabbage. Stir to combine.
  • Return the browned sausage to the skillet, mixing it with the cabbage. Cook for 2–3 more minutes to heat through.
  • Taste and adjust seasonings as desired. Serve hot and enjoy!
