Preparation of Broth
- In a medium pot, pour the beef broth and place it over medium heat. Add in sliced onions, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. If using, sprinkle in your choice of herbs. Allow it to simmer for about 10-15 minutes, letting the flavors deepen.
Warming the Roast Beef
- While the broth simmers, take your thinly sliced roast beef and place it in a skillet over low heat. Add a ladleful of the broth to the skillet to warm the beef, turning occasionally for about 5-7 minutes.
Toasting the Rolls
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the French rolls in half, and if you like, add a slice of cheese to each half. Toast the rolls in the oven for about 5 minutes or until they are lightly golden.
Assembling the Sandwiches
- Once the rolls are toasted and the roast beef is warmed, pile a generous portion of beef onto the bottom half of each roll. Spoon some of the flavorful broth over the beef.
Serving
- Carefully place the top half of the roll on the sandwich and serve with a small bowl of flavorful broth for dipping. Enjoy!
Notes
For substitutions, try turkey or chicken instead of beef for a lighter option. Avoid overcooking the beef to maintain tenderness.
