  • 1 lb tender roast beef (sliced thin)
  • 1 large French bread loaf
  • 2 cups beef broth (preferably Halal)
  • 1 medium onion (thinly sliced)
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1-2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for sautéing)

Method
 

Sauté the Onions
  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Add the thinly sliced onions and sauté until they are caramelized, about 10-12 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic, and season with salt and pepper. Cook for another minute. Remove from heat and set aside.
Prepare the Beef Broth
  1. In a medium saucepan, heat the beef broth over low heat until it is warm but not boiling.
Assemble the Sandwich
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the French bread in half lengthwise. Layer the roast beef evenly on the bottom half of the bread, followed by the sautéed onions. Place Swiss cheese on top.
Toast the Sandwich
  1. Place the sandwich halves on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly golden.
Serve
  1. Slice the sandwich into manageable pieces. Serve with a small bowl of the warm beef broth for dipping.
