Ingredients
  

For the glaze
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Ensure it's halal-certified
  • 1/4 cup honey or agave syrup Choose based on preference
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard Can substitute with horseradish mixed with regular mustard
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic is preferable
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated Use fresh for the best flavor
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Enhances the glaze's richness
For the salmon
  • 4 pieces salmon fillets (about 6 oz each) Fresh, high-quality fillets are recommended
  • 2 tablespoons green onions, chopped For garnish
  • to taste sesame seeds Optional garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey/agave syrup, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, ginger, and sesame oil.
Marination
  1. Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag, then pour the marinade over the fish. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes, preferably up to an hour in the refrigerator.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the marinated salmon on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for approximately 15-20 minutes until the fish flakes easily with a fork.
  3. Halfway through cooking, brush some additional marinade on top of the salmon.
Garnishing
  1. Remove from the oven, garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired, and serve with rice or steamed vegetables.

Notes

If using leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. For freezing, wrap tightly for up to one month. Gently reheat in the oven to maintain texture.
