Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix!
  6. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips for that extra indulgence.
  7. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges look set and the tops are slightly cracked.
  9. Remove from the oven, let them cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Use good quality chocolate for richer taste. Don't overbake for a chewy texture. Experiment with mix-ins like nuts or caramel.
