Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
- Stir in the melted butter to the mashed bananas.
- Add baking soda and salt. Mix well.
- Stir in the sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gently fold in the flour and mix until no dry flour is visible.
- Optionally, add walnuts or chocolate chips to the batter.
- Line a muffin tin with paper liners or grease it lightly with cooking spray.
- Pour the batter into the muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

For perfecting these muffins, choose overripe bananas, mix gently to avoid density, and experiment with flavors like nutmeg or additional chocolate chips.
