Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 8 slices Key Bread (white or whole grain)
  • 8 oz. Cream cheese, softened
  • 1 medium Cucumber, sliced thinly
  • 4 oz. Smoked salmon Ensure it's from a Halal-certified source
  • 1/4 cup Fresh herbs (dill or chives), chopped
  • 5 Radishes, sliced thin
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Heart-shaped cookie cutter For shaping the sandwiches

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by washing the cucumber and radishes. Slice them thinly for a pleasant crunch.
  2. Soften your cream cheese in a bowl, and stir in the fresh herbs, a bit of salt, and pepper for added flavor.
Assembly
  1. Using your heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut out heart shapes from the slices of bread. You’ll want about 16 pieces to make 8 sandwiches.
  2. Take one heart-shaped piece of bread and generously spread a layer of cream cheese on one side.
  3. Layer a slice of cucumber, a piece of smoked salmon, and finish it off with a few slices of radish on top of the cream cheese layer.
  4. Cap it with another heart-shaped piece of bread, cream cheese side down. Press gently to hold together.
  5. Consider adding a sprinkle of fresh herbs on top for aesthetic appeal. Arrange your heart-shaped sandwiches on a platter, and voilà!

Notes

Substitutions: Use grilled chicken or roasted vegetables for a Halal-friendly alternative. Timing: Make the cream cheese spread ahead of time. Assemble sandwiches just before serving to prevent sogginess. Avoid stale bread for the best texture.
