Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure it's nice and hot when the dumplings go in.
- Peel and core the apples, making sure to remove any seeds. Set aside.
- Roll out the pie crust on a floured surface. Cut into squares large enough to wrap around each apple.
- Place an apple in the center of each pie crust square. Fold the crust up and over the apple, pinching to seal tightly.
Cooking
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, and cinnamon. Bring to a boil, and then remove from heat.
- Place the wrapped dumplings in a greased baking dish. Pour the warm syrup over the dumplings. Dot with butter for extra flavor.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until they are golden brown and bubbly.
Serving
- Serve warm, preferably with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
Notes
Choose a mix of tart and sweet apples for added depth of flavor. Chill dough if it feels too soft before rolling.
