Ingredients
  

  • For the Apple Filling:
  • 6 cups apples peeled, cored, and sliced (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or a mix)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • For the Topping:
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed

Method
 

  1. Step 1: Prepare the Apples
  2. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease your baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch until evenly coated.
  4. Spread the apple mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Step 2: Make the Topping
  6. In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  7. Add the cold, cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or fork to blend it into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  9. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apple mixture.
