  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley chopped (optional)
  • Pasta
  • 12 lasagna noodles cooked according to package instructions

Instructions

  • Prepare the Meat Sauce:
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef, Italian sausage, and onion over medium heat until browned. Drain excess grease.
  • Stir in the garlic, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, basil, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 20–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Prepare the Cheese Mixture:
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 cup of mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, and parsley. Mix until well blended.
  • Cook the Lasagna Noodles:
  • Cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions. Drain and lay them flat on a baking sheet to prevent sticking.
  • Assemble the Lasagna:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Spread a thin layer of meat sauce at the bottom of the baking dish.
  • Add a layer of noodles, followed by a layer of the ricotta mixture, then meat sauce. Repeat the layers, finishing with meat sauce on top.
  • Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
  • Bake:
  • Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  • Rest and Serve:
  • Let the lasagna rest for 10–15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
