Preparation
- Wash the potato thoroughly under running water to remove any dirt.
- Use a fork to poke several holes around the potato to allow steam to escape.
Cooking
- Place the potato on a microwave-safe plate and microwave on high for about 5 minutes.
- Check for doneness by inserting a fork or knife; it should go through easily. If not, microwave for another minute at a time until done.
- Once done, carefully remove the potato and let it rest for a minute.
- Cut the potato open, fluff the insides with a fork, and add salt, butter, or olive oil as desired.
Notes
Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, microwave for 1-2 minutes, wrapped in a damp paper towel for best results.
