Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Loaf pan or baking sheet
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Aluminum foil (optional)

Ingredients

  • For the Meatloaf:
  • 2 pounds ground beef or a mix of beef and pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs panko or regular
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley optional
  • For the Glaze:
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard or yellow mustard

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven:
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Prepare the Meatloaf Mixture:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, onion, garlic, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and parsley. Mix gently with your hands or a spoon until just combined. Avoid overmixing, as this can make the meatloaf dense.
  • Shape the Meatloaf:
  • Transfer the mixture to the loaf pan or baking sheet. Shape it into a loaf, about 8 inches long and 4 inches wide if using a baking sheet.
  • Prepare the Glaze:
  • In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup, brown sugar, and Dijon mustard. Spread half of the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  • Bake the Meatloaf:
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 45–55 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  • Add the Remaining Glaze:
  • About 10 minutes before the meatloaf is finished baking, spread the remaining glaze on top. This helps it caramelize and adds extra flavor.
  • Rest and Serve:
  • Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy!
