- Finely shred the cabbage and carrots using a sharp knife or a food processor. Include the chopped onion for added flavor.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, carrots, and onions. Toss them lightly so they’re evenly mixed.
- In another bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, buttermilk, apple cider vinegar, granulated sugar, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Pour the dressing over the cabbage mixture and gently toss until all the veggies are well-coated.
- Cover the bowl and refrigerate the coleslaw for at least one hour to allow the flavors to meld together.
- After chilling, give it a final toss and serve as the perfect side dish or stand-alone salad.
