Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 200 g spaghetti Cooked according to package instructions.
  • 500 g ground beef Use Halal-certified ground beef for a compliant meal.
  • 1 small onion, diced Adds a sweet base flavor.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced You can’t go wrong with garlic!
  • 1 each bell pepper, diced Choose any color for a pop of color.
  • 1 cup tomato sauce Ensure it’s Halal-friendly.
  • 1 tablespoon mustard For that tangy kick.
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese Or more, because cheese is always a good idea!
  • to taste salt and pepper Season to your preference.

Method

Cooking
  1. Begin by cooking the spaghetti according to the instructions on the package until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat a splash of oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and bell pepper, sautéing until they are tender, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Push the veggies to one side of the skillet and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Add minced garlic during the last minute of cooking to avoid burning.
  4. Once the beef is cooked, stir in the tomato sauce and mustard. Allow this to simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss everything together to coat the noodles with the sauce. Top with shredded cheese and cover until the cheese melts, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Spoon onto plates and dig in while hot!

Notes

If you're short on time, you can use pre-cooked spaghetti or even swap it for other noodles like penne or fusilli. Consider adding spices such as Italian seasoning or chili powder for an extra flavor dimension. If you have leftovers, save them for a delicious next-day lunch by reheating gently.
