Preparation
- Start by cutting the mozzarella cheese sticks in half. Smaller pieces make for easier dipping.
- Set up your dipping station with three separate bowls: flour seasoned with salt and pepper, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
- Take each mozzarella piece and dip it first in the flour, then in the beaten eggs, allowing excess to drip off, and finally coat it in breadcrumbs.
Cooking
- In a frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Once sizzling, carefully place a few cheese sticks into the oil. Fry them for about 1-2 minutes on each side until they are golden brown.
- Once fried to perfection, use a slotted spoon to remove the cheese sticks and let them drain on paper towels.
- Serve warm with marinara or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Store leftover cheese sticks in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. For reheating, bake in the oven at 375°F for 10-15 minutes until hot and crispy. To freeze, freeze un-fried cheese sticks on a baking sheet before placing them in a freezer-safe bag. They’ll keep for up to 3 months.
