Irresistible Mango Sago Dessert Recipe

Beat the heat with this refreshing Mango Sago Dessert! Packed with creamy coconut milk, sweet mango, and chewy sago pearls, this chilled treat is perfect for summer.

Equipment

  • Medium saucepan
  • Strainer
  • Blender or food processor
  • Mixing bowl
  • Serving bowls or glasses

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup sago pearls small tapioca pearls
  • 2-3 ripe mangoes diced (reserve some for garnish)
  • 1 1/2 cups coconut milk full-fat for creaminess
  • 1/2 cup condensed milk adjust sweetness to taste
  • 1/2 cup water for blending mango
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Crushed ice or ice cubes optional, for serving

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Cook the Sago
  • Bring a pot of water to a boil and add the sago pearls. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  • Cook for about 10-12 minutes or until the sago turns mostly translucent (some white dots in the center are fine).
  • Turn off the heat, cover the pot, and let the sago sit for another 5 minutes to finish cooking.
  • Strain the sago and rinse under cold water to remove excess starch. Set aside.
  • Step 2: Prepare the Mango Puree
  • Peel and dice the mangoes, reserving some pieces for garnish.
  • Blend the mango chunks with 1/2 cup of water until smooth. Set aside.
  • Step 3: Combine the Ingredients
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the coconut milk, condensed milk, and salt. Stir well to mix.
  • Add the cooked sago and mango puree to the coconut milk mixture. Mix until evenly combined.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness if needed by adding more condensed milk.
  • Step 4: Chill and Serve
  • Chill the Mango Sago mixture in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.
  • To serve, spoon the dessert into individual bowls or glasses. Top with diced mango and crushed ice if desired.
