Ingredients
  

For the marinade
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Ensure it’s Halal-friendly
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
For the salmon
  • 4 fillets salmon (about 6 ounces each)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Sesame seeds and green onions for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a small bowl, whisk the honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, lemon juice, and olive oil to prepare the marinade.
  2. Place the salmon fillets in a large bowl or platter and sprinkle them with salt and pepper.
  3. Pour the honey garlic mixture over the salmon and let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Cooking
  1. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add a touch of olive oil.
  2. Place the marinated salmon fillets skin-side down in the hot pan.
  3. Cook the salmon for about 4-5 minutes until it starts to caramelize and turn golden.
  4. Gently flip the fillets and spoon some marinade over them, cooking for another 3-4 minutes or until cooked through.
  5. Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions, if desired.

Notes

For substitutions, you can use tilapia or firm tofu for a vegetarian alternative. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over low heat or in the oven at 350°F (175°C).
