Method
Preheat the Oven
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Make the Brownie Base
- In a large mixing bowl, melt 1 cup of butter. Once melted, add 2 cups of granulated sugar and mix until smooth. Then, add 4 eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Combine Dry Ingredients
- In another bowl, whisk together 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of cocoa powder, 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt.
Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until everything is well combined.
Bake the Brownie Base
- Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with only a few moist crumbs.
Prepare the Cookie Dough
- In a bowl, cream together 1/2 cup of softened butter, 1/2 cup of packed brown sugar, and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Finish the Cookie Dough
- Gradually add 1 cup of flour and 1/4 teaspoon of salt, mixing until just combined. Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips.
Assemble the Layers
- Once the brownies have baked and cooled for about 10-15 minutes, drop spoonfuls of cookie dough on top of the brownie base.
Final Bake
- Return the pan to the oven for an additional 10-12 minutes, until the cookie dough is set but still soft.
Cool and Serve
- Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares. Serve with your favorite toppings, if desired!
Notes
