Ingredients

For the Filling
  • 1 lb smoked brisket, shredded
  • 1 cup cheese sauce (made from a blend of your favorite cheeses)
For the Pretzel Bombs
  • 1 package refrigerated pretzel dough Check for halal compliance
  • 1 large egg, beaten For egg wash
  • to taste coarse sea salt For sprinkling

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the shredded smoked brisket with your cheese sauce. Mix well until the brisket is evenly coated.
  2. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the refrigerated pretzel dough into equal-sized portions, roughly the size of your palm.
Assembly
  1. Take a portion of the rolled dough and place a generous scoop of the brisket and cheese mixture in the center. Bring the edges of the dough together to create a ball, making sure to seal it well.
  2. Place the filled pretzel bombs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Brush the tops with beaten egg to give them that golden-brown color.
  4. Lightly sprinkle coarse sea salt over each bomb before placing them into the preheated oven.
Baking
  1. Bake the pretzel bombs for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Once baked, remove from the oven and let cool for a few moments.
Serving
  1. Serve hot with additional cheese sauce or your choice of dipping sauce.

Notes

Consider using leftover roasted chicken or a vegetarian filling made from mushrooms and cheese. Keep an eye on the pretzel bombs in the last few minutes of baking to avoid overcooking. Store in an airtight container for about 3 days.
