  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary Other herbs like thyme or oregano can be used.
  • to taste none Salt

Method

Preparation
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt. Pour in the yeast mixture and 1/4 cup of olive oil. Mix until the dough forms a cohesive ball.
  3. On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough into a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size.
Baking
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a baking sheet or a 9x13 inch pan with the remaining olive oil.
  2. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and spread it into the prepared pan. Use your fingers to dimple the surface generously.
  3. Sprinkle the minced garlic, grated Parmesan cheese, and dried rosemary evenly across the surface. Drizzle a little olive oil and sprinkle with salt to taste.
  4. Allow it to rise again for 30 minutes while your oven finishes heating.
  5. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
  6. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Enjoy this delicious bread fresh or serve it warm with your favorite dipping oil.
