  • 1 1-lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 lb ground beef or sausage
  • 1 small onion diced
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup cooked bacon chopped (optional)
  • ½ cup diced pickles or peppers optional
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional garnish: sesame seeds parsley

Instructions

  • Step 1: Preheat the Oven
  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Step 2: Cook the Filling
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the ground beef or sausage and diced onion. Cook until browned and fully cooked, breaking up the meat as it cooks.
  • Season with garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Drain any excess grease.
  • Step 3: Prepare the Dough
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, about 12x16 inches.
  • Step 4: Assemble the Garbage Bread
  • Spread the mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard evenly over the dough.
  • Layer the cooked meat mixture, shredded cheeses, bacon, and optional pickles or peppers over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  • Step 5: Roll the Bread
  • Starting from one long side, carefully roll the dough into a log, sealing the edges and ends tightly to prevent leaks.
  • Place the roll seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Step 6: Apply the Egg Wash
  • Brush the entire surface of the bread with the beaten egg. Sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired.
  • Step 7: Bake
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
  • Step 8: Slice and Serve
  • Let the Garbage Bread cool for 5-10 minutes before slicing into thick pieces. Serve warm with dipping sauces like marinara, ranch, or barbecue sauce.
