Fried Apples Recipe

Sweet, cinnamon-spiced fried apples are an easy, delicious side or dessert! These tender, caramelized apples are perfect for breakfast, dinner, or a sweet treat.

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Peeler and cutting board

Ingredients
  

  • 4 large apples Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji are best, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg optional
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract optional

Instructions
 

  • Prepare the Apples
  • Peel, core, and slice the apples into about ¼-inch thick slices for even cooking.
  • Melt the Butter
  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it starts to bubble.
  • Add the Apples and Sugar
  • Add the sliced apples to the skillet and sprinkle with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and a pinch of salt. Stir well to coat the apples in the buttery, sugary mixture.
  • Cook the Apples
  • Sauté the apples for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they’re tender and caramelized but not mushy. If using, add the vanilla extract in the last minute of cooking.
  • Serve
  • Remove from heat and serve warm. These fried apples can be enjoyed on their own, as a side, or as a topping for various dishes.
